These Terms of Service govern your use of ScratchSplit. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.
The service
ScratchSplit helps private groups record shared expenses, calculate balances, and record settlements. It is not a bank, payment processor, financial adviser, or debt-collection service. ScratchSplit does not move money between users.
Your account and groups
You are responsible for safeguarding your account and for information you add to groups. Only invite people you trust into a group. Group members may be able to see the expenses, balances, settlements, and activity relevant to that group.
Accurate use
You agree to provide accurate information, use the service lawfully, and not interfere with the service or another person’s use of it. You may not use ScratchSplit to harass others, misrepresent debts, or attempt to access groups or accounts that are not yours.
Balances and settlements
Balances are calculations based on information entered by group members. Please review expense and settlement details before relying on them. Any real-world payment or agreement between users takes place outside ScratchSplit and remains the responsibility of the people involved.
Availability and changes
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue parts of ScratchSplit as we improve the service. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes when appropriate.
Disclaimer and limitation
ScratchSplit is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, or suitable for every situation. To the extent permitted by law, ScratchSplit is not liable for disputes, losses, or payments between users.
Ending use
You may stop using ScratchSplit at any time. We may suspend or end access where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, or address misuse of the service.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the service evolves. The current version and its effective date will always be published on this page.
